The zombie apocalypse was sooooo 2017. Welcome to the world of witches!
Starbucks announced on Thursday morning that it was releasing a “Witch’s Brew” Frappuccino for a limited time, the latest in a growing line of annual, creative Halloween beverages.
Included in the cauldron bubble brew is a blend of orange cream and what the company is calling “toad’s breath,” which gives it a purple appearance. “Bat warts (green chia seeds) are mixed in for textural distinction. The frapp’ gets topped off with vanilla whipped cream and a dusting of “lizard scale powder” for a green garnish.
In a press release, beverage developer Jennica Robinson described the Witch’s Brew as having “a little bit of juiciness from the orange flavor,” and said that it was something “you might enjoy at a Halloween party.”
The Witch’s brew comes on the heels of 2017’s Zombie Frappuccino and the “Frappula” Frappuccino, which was available in 2015 and 2016. Before that, there was the Franken Frappuccino in 2014.
“We started with Frappula, which was inspired by an old-school horror movie,” said Robinson. “Zombie Frappuccino was like the walking dead, a little ghastly. Witch’s Brew is very fun, vibrant, bubbly, the life of the party.”
